Thanks to legislation that was first put in place six years ago, virtually all herbal medications and supplements will become illegal in the EU as of April, 2011. This is BIG PHARMA trying their best to control and even patent herbals. Did you know that Lipitor, the anti-cholesterol drugs that sells for big bucks is made from natural lovastatin. Red Yest Rice per 600 MG capsule contains 7.5 MG of natural lovsastatin. The drug company that patented LIPITOR added chemicals to it so they could patent it. Red Yeast Rice works as well or better tha LIPTOR but without all the nasty side effects of LIPITOR ! www.care2.com/causes/real-food/blog/medicinal-herbs-will-be-banned-in-the-european-union/

Just wait, it will only a matter of time when they will try to do this again in the U.S. They've already tried it before here but if they do I hope people will bombard their senators offices again like the last time they tried this over here.

It is now getting difficult to even simple things here in the UK. Hydrogen peroxide is no longer stocked by most chemists/drug stores. The reason I was given recently, is "because people make things that go BANG with it". I was also told that all employees of chemists were told to 'report' suspicious people who ask for it.
Other things that do not seem to be available in the UK are sublimated sulfur; borax; GABA, a harmless and common amino acid was banned some time ago. The list is longer, and getting longer still.
With the appalling health care system here, and clueless doctors who do little for their fees and are above accountability and reproach, big Pharma looks to gain financially. After all, there is no profit to be made from a healthy population.
